Door2Door Community Transport

Door2Door was a local community transport service managed by VAST to ensure that people who experience difficulties with mobility, access, or confidence are able to stay connected to the communities around them..

With a team of dedicated volunteers, it supported people who were facing barriers to travel, helping them access essential services, activities, and opportunities within their community.

While under the care of VAST, the project provided safe, reliable, and accessible transport, enabling individuals to attend medical appointments, social activities, community groups, and essential services that might otherwise be out of reach.

By removing transport as a barrier, Door2Door and the amazing volunteer drivers helped people from all backgrounds maintain independence, improve wellbeing, and remain active participants in community life.

The project played an important role in tackling loneliness and social isolation, enabling people to reconnect with their community, particularly those who are most vulnerable or geographically isolated.

As this project funding came to an end in March 2026, Door2Door moved to Port Vale Foundation, where under their care, it will continue to support local people into the future as part of their community work. Read more about Door2Door’s move to Port Vale Foundation here
