Food prices increased by a record high of 14.7% in October, soaring at a rate that is higher than inflation.

Households paid an extra £13.11 in their weekly food shop in October compared to the same month in 2021, according to the Kantar Worldpanel. That amounts to an extra £682 over a year.

Some essential items have gone up in price by as much as 65% over the year, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS)…
