Swan Bank church has a long-standing commitment with its local community and an unwritten rule that says it will never walk on by and look the other way whenever individuals and families are struggling, but will take up every opportunity to get alongside those in need and offer help whenever it is required.

There are many groups and organisations that use the church premises on a weekly basis making Swan Bank an essential community resource that consistently serves hundreds of individuals regularly, many of which are now struggling as a result of the cost of living crisis, both members and non-members of the church.

Tuesdays

Chatty Cafe: 10:00am-1:30pm

Chatty Café is a space of welcome and friendship, provided in partnership with Swan Bank Church and the Salt Box Care Link service. People aged 50 plus are welcome to pop along and meet together to make new friends, chat, play board games or just enjoy each other’s company.

During this time slot, Care Link provide a Digital Literacy Drop in session on the first Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October and December, helping people to safely use their electronic devices e.g. mobile phones, tablets, laptop computer.

We provide hot drinks and biscuits throughout the morning. You are always welcome to stay for lunch (either bring your own packed lunch or we can buy a hot or cold meal from a local takeaway café).

Tuesday Club: 2:00pm-3:00pm

The Tuesday Club is an opportunity to come along meet other people in a warm and friendly environment. We have a guest speaker each week, speaking on a variety of themes. We also arrange the occasional ‘special’ afternoon where we may have a Cream Tea etc.

Hot and cold drinks and biscuits are always available throughout the afternoon.

Wednesdays

Knit & Natter: 10:00am-12:00pm

The Knit & Natter group meet every Wednesday morning. There is usually a higher proportion of time spent ‘Nattering’ with a little time spent Knitting, Crocheting or learning how to make greeting cards etc.

We provide hot drinks and biscuits throughout the morning. You are very welcome to join us.
